massive search for desmonte leonard. >> charged with three counts of capital murder in a shooting saturday night near auburn university campus. the police chief says the surrender does not end the pain. >> in a case like this there is no relief because those boys aren't coming home tonight. >> leonard will make a first court appearance today or tomorrow. two former auburn football players were among those killed saturday night. there is an additional player fighting for his life in the hospital right now. but, he willfully surrendered. his attorney says he was very calm, very tired, very ready to got this over with and very respectful. but that is of course his attorney. >> of course. all of this again over an argument about a woman at an off-campus party leading to this. >> probably the most disturbing angle. >> oh, man. our other big story this morning, the jerry sandusky trial where a key witness has taken the stand. >> mike mcqueary, the young football coach who says he saw

sandusky abusing a young boy on the penn state campus when he was a grad assistant. abc's jim avila reports from pennsylvania. >> reporter: two big men on campus, the defensive coach who built linebacker u, jerry sandusky now an accused child molester, versus the protege, a young,hick-necked, red-headed fensive coach named mike mcqueary, staring each down from across a courtroom. high drama as mcqueary in a loud, strong voice, recalled another time he was in the same room with sandusky, a locker room. watching he testified a raw sexual assault on a little boy. this was the moment that would eventually lead to the firing of coaching legend joe paterno and tarnish the reputation of this country's most respected football program forever. >> darren was the man who literally brought penn state to its knees. >> reporter: mcqueary practically barked his testimony telling his story of the assault he saw and heard in the penn state locker room. leaving him quote, embarrassed,

walking in on something that i did not want to see. three quick looks before slamming a locker, quote, i made the loud noise to say someone else is here, break it up. mcqueary saying he had no doubt about what he saw, and who he saw doing it. quote, both saw me. i looked directly in his eyes. >> he told the jury i am sure about it. and there is no mistake that this was extremely sexual in nature and it was something that was horrible. >> reporter: mcqueary says he told his father, his mentor, joe paterno and school officials. the school's failure to stop sandusky say authorities is what led to the broader scandal and made it possible say critics for him to assault others including first witness, victim one, a boy of 13 then, now 18, testifying in tears to three years of sexual abuse that he was too fearful to report then and even today struggles to recount. >> he didn't want to be here. he didn't want to testify.

he knew he had a duty to do so so sandusky wasn't going to harm any other children. >> reporter: at one point during this difficult cross-examination the 18-year-old boy tears in his eyes raised his hands over his head and begged for it to stop. a few feet away in the jury box they were crying too. jim avila, abc news, bellefonte, pennsylvania. >> what a scene inside that court. turning overseas now, a dangerous new escalation in syria. secretary of state hillary clinton says there is evidence that russia is sending attack helicopters to the syrian government. there have been hopes the russians would be part of a diplomatic solution to the crisis. the issue is certain to increase tensions as president obama prepares to meet russian president putin next week. a "wall street journal" reporter has now stepped down following revelations that she had an affair with a top u.s. security official in iraq. leaked e-mails show that gina

chung was relying on him for access and information while the two were romantically involved. mcclerk was married at the time and now president obama's choice for u.s. ambassador to iraq. that nomination though certainly now in jeopardy. the head of the nation's largest bank says he is sorry and the testimony he plans for a congressional hearing today, ceo jamie dimon says jpmorgan chase has taken steps to make sure a trading gamble will not happen. dian diamon says other mistakes are bound to happen. this cost his bank $2 billion. his prepared statement doesn't say if the amount has increased. the cost of flying is going up again. united airlines is now charging, rob, $100 for the second bag, checked on. the increase went into effect quietly, of course, quietly last week. united now matches delta's fee for a second bag. american and u.s. airways charge less. so far. if you fly spirit you have to pay for your carry-ons as well.

>> that is a disgrace. can't stand that. another disgrace. after announcing a shift to online news, one of the nation's oldest daily newspapers is scaling back 200 jobs. as we reported last month, the new orleans' "times-picayune" will scale back to three days a week beginning this fall. employees found out just yesterday they were going to stay or if they were going to leave. a series of meetings took place throughout the paper yesterday. some of the city's most experienced writers and photographers are among those now being let go. did not get a lot of sleep yesterday because i was on twitter and facebook and on the phone with folks. know a lot of people that were laid off. the newsroom was devastated. they called it a bloodbath. such a hard, hard time for the paper, city, journalism, and watch papers take their loss. >> you worked there? >> i worked there seven years, for the "times-pic." my professional career started. i asked a few weeks ago, if you know of any -- any jobs out
